Eagles Fall to Host

The Biola men’s water polo team closed out day two of the Air Force Rare Air Challenge against the host in a difficult loss.

Air Force Academy, Colo. --- The Biola Eagles (2-7) faced the host school on Saturday evening, but came up short in a tough 9-14 defeat. The Air Force Academy (5-6) found a way to hold onto a lead for the entirety of the game which led to their victory over the Eagles.

Air Force started off with a 3-0 lead before sophomore Ryle Hibbard put one past the goalkeeper to put BU on the board. Nolan Rapp fired one in with five seconds left on the clock for a score of 4-2 at the end of the first frame.

While the Eagles attempted to keep up with Air Force, their three second period goals were not enough to cut their deficit. BU headed into halftime trailing by a score of 9-5.

Will Tibbets opened up the second half with a goal which would then lead to the Eagles outscoring Air Force Academy by 3-2. Adam Lavoy rounded out the third period scoring with back-to-back goals in the final minute and a half.

Unfortunately, the Eagles were only able to find the back of the net one last time in the fourth period, while Air Force continued to dominate leading to a final score of 9-14.

Lavoy and Hibbard led BU as both Eagles logged a pair of goals in Saturday's match.

Mitchell Carpenter and Joshua Dachenhausen split time defending their goal against Air Force. Dachenhausen recorded an assist and eight saves while Carpenter tallied the Eagles' other three saves.

The Eagles will be back in the pool on Sunday at 9 AM P.T. against Navy on the final day of the Air Force Rare Air Challenge.
