Winning the Battle

Biola could not be deterred in a tough game one on Monday, defeating Fresno Pacific.

LA MIRADA --- The Eagles stayed disciplined on Monday afternoon and delivered in a back-and-forth game one. The makeup doubleheader began in Biola's favor, as the BU squad took down Fresno Pacific with a 9-7 final score.

Biola was electric at the plate in game one, putting together nine runs and 10 base hits. Three Eagles tallied multiple hits in the contest, including Andrew Lujan with a game-high three base knocks.

The big rally for BU came from the fourth frame to the sixth, as the team tacked on seven runs in the stretch. The momentum swing turned a 5-2 deficit into a 9-7 lead that would hold through the final out.

Lujan was a key cog in the offensive production, going 3-3 with a walk. The BU designated hitter earned two RBI with a no-doubt homer to dead center in the bottom of the first. He finished the day a triple away from the cycle with a double in the seventh.

Taylor Justus added to the home run tally with another two-run shot for the Eagles. The senior nabbed his fifth homer of the year, while collecting two hits, two RBI, and a walk.

The win on the mound was earned by Jake Anderson. The righty worked through four frames and punched out seven Sunbird batters.

The final three innings blew by with strong work from Carson Cody and Gabe Magallan. The duo polished off the last nine outs without allowing a run. Magallan picked up the save for his sixth of the season.
