Biola Bested at APU

BU’s final regular season non-conference bout got away from the team in a road matchup at Azusa Pacific.

AZUSA, Calif. --- The Eagles hit the road on Saturday afternoon and headed to Azusa Pacific (14-11) to take on the Cougars. Despite a strong start, Biola (10-16) fell to APU in a 15-8 final score in the team's final non-conference matchup of 2024.

All-around team play put Biola in a great spot over the first five and a half minutes of Saturday's contest. Four different Eagles tacked on a goal in the early going, as the BU squad boasted a 4-2 lead in the first period.

Veralie Naranjo kept up the pressure with three more goals, after tacking on one in the initial burst. The junior collected four goals on the day, including both of the team's second half scores.

Naranjo continued her tear in 2024, netting her eighth four-goal performance and her fourth-straight game with at least three goals.

APU rebounded after the quick start from Biola and took control before the end of the first half. After the Eagles took the 4-2 edge, the Cougars finished the remainder of the game with a positive 13-4 scoring margin.

In the cage, Alicia Fregoso picked up 10 saves, marking the most in her career for a single game.

The Eagles will finish off the regular season on Friday, taking on Fresno Pacific on the road at 1:00 pm.
