Fortune Flipped

Game two had a different feel on Friday, as Biola split the day with Fresno Pacific.

LA MIRADA --- Biola (18-21-1, 8-13 PacWest) and Fresno Pacific (18-18, 9-13 PacWest) split the day, following a pair of lopsided contests. BU dominated in game one, before the Sunbirds returned the favor in game two with a 11-2 final score.

Fresno Pacific did not waste much time on the way to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. The visitors went on to score in five-of-seven frames in game two.

The Eagles responded in the fifth and got on the board with the bat of Jonathan Kumai. The BU second baseman laced the ball into deep left field and off the glove of the FPU left fielder for a stand up double. The two-base knock brought home AJ Ortiz from first base for an RBI.

Noah Ruiz touched home in the seventh inning for the team's second score in the game. The sophomore got on base with a hit to the opposite field and moved to third with John Lanterman's first hit as an Eagle. Lanterman pulled a double down the right field line, putting runners on second and third in the final frame.

Ruiz thrived on Friday, going 4-7 at the plate against Fresno Pacific. Back-to-back multi-hit performances put his season total to 14.

Biola will return to Eagles Diamond on Monday, finishing off its series against FPU with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm.
