Errors Spoil Game One

Three home runs were not enough for the Eagles in game one against Hawaii Pacific in a 9-4 loss at home.

LA MIRADA --- A rough start stuck with Biola (15-15-1, 7-9 PacWest), as the BU squad was unable to overcome on Wednesday afternoon. Game one against Hawaii Pacific (16-15, 7-12 PacWest) was spoiled by six Biola errors, resulting in a 9-4 final score in favor of the Sharks.

Everything seemed to go wrong to kick things off on Wednesday. The top of the first featured seven runs for the visitors but only two earned runs. Three BU fielding errors in a stretch of four at bats aided the HPU cause, as the Sharks batted through the order in the first.

Another HPU rally in the second moved the scoreline to 8-0 early in the contest.

BU took big swings to inch back into the ballgame. It started with Noah Ruiz, who blasted a solo homer in the bottom of the second. He led off the frame with his fourth homer of the year.

The home runs kept coming with Wyatt Duncan leaving the field in the third inning. The first baseman took a 2-0 pitch and sent it over the fence in left field, bringing home BU's second run of the game.

For the third-straight inning, Biola logged a home run, as Taylor Justus picked up a homer in the fourth. Justus crushed the ball and brought home teammate Andrew Lujan for a two-run shot.

Neither team impacted the scoreboard from the fifth frame through the final out. Ryan Lachemann, Josh Eigenbrodt, and Carson Cody combined for four innings on the mound with zero runs and one hit allowed.

Ruiz and Justus each picked up a single to add to their homers and nab a multi-hit outing at the plate on Wednesday.
