Getting the Job Done

The men’s tennis team got the job done against Colorado Mesa, collecting a 6-1 victory at the Biola Tennis Center.

LA MIRADA---The Biola men's tennis team got the job done against Colorado Mesa, collecting a 6-1 victory at the Biola Tennis Center.

Biola set the tone by winning the doubles point. BU won the first set on the third court, thanks to a 6-4 victory by Alejandro Flores Monteverde and Patricio Larrea. The Mavericks struck back with a 6-4 win on the second court, but Biola would push back with a 6-4 victory on the first court courtesy of #19 doubles pair Adrian Solorzano and Nico Ramírez.

Biola recorded four back-to-back singles wins to clinch the match.

No. 19 Ramírez earned Biola's first singles win, defeating his opponent 6-1, 6-2 on the first court. Solorzano and Larrea followed through next, taking down their opponents in two sets on the second and third courts. Larrea clinched the Eagles victory with his 6-2, 6-3 win over CMU's Diogo Manzano.

Flores Monteverde stretched Biola's lead to 5-0 with his three-set win on the fourth court. Flores Monteverde lost his first set to CMU's Henry Scheck, but bounced back to win the last two 6-1, 7-5.

Biola lost on the fifth court and would receive their sixth win on the sixth court. Callen Hein overcame CMU's Jorge Abreu 7-6, 7-5 to conclude the match.

The Eagles play next on Tuesday, Mar. 5 at 4 p.m. against Grand Valley State at the Biola Tennis Center.
