Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Billi Derleth, Assistant Sports Information Director

Triumphant Eagles

The men’s tennis team was triumphant against Westmont College, defeating the Warriors 5-2 at the Knowlwood Tennis Club.

MONTECITO, Calif.---The Biola men's tennis team was triumphant against Westmont College, defeating the Warriors 5-2 at the Knowlwood Tennis Club.

Biola set the tone by winning the doubles point. Thiago Canessa and Santino Serrallonga secured the Eagles' first win, beating their opponents 6-4 on the third court. Nico Ramirez and Adrian Solorzano then clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 victory over WC's Austin Stone and Ethan Ha on the first court.

Solorzano came through with BU's first singles win, defeating WC's Stone 6-2, 6-2.

 Biola's next win came from Serrallonga who won 6-3, 6-4 on the sixth court. 

Ramirez then clinched the match for BU with his 6-4, 7-5 victory over WC's Ha on the first court. 

Alejandro Flores Monteverde earned the Eagles' last win on the fourth court. Flores Monteverde out-played his opponent (Goor Adiv) in a three-set duel. Adiv won the first set 6-1 and then Flores Monteverde came back to sweep the last two sets 6-1, 6-4.

Biola took losses on courts three and five. Patricio Larrea lost a hard-fought battle to WC's Logan Thompson on the third court. Larrea won 6-4 in the first set but Thompson would come back 6-3, 11-9.

Canessa was forced to retire on the fifth court due to an injury.

Next up for Biola is Hope International on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 4:30pm at the Biola Tennis Center.
