Whitman Homers in Game Two Loss

A three-run home run from James Whitman brought the highlight on Friday afternoon, as Biola fell in game two.

DENVER, Colo. --- Game two got away from the Eagles (4-2) on Friday, as MSU Denver (3-4) took control late in the seven inning contest. The Roadrunners earned the sweep with a 8-4 win over Biola, despite a three-run shot from James Whitman.

Biola struck first in game two of Friday's doubleheader with a three-spot in the third. Two men on base were brought home by way of a long ball off the bat of Whitman. The BU left fielder left the yard for the third time this series and the fourth time this season to give the team the lead.

MSU Denver earned one back in the bottom of the third but Biola still maintained a two-run edge.

Austin Carillo earned the next BU run, opening the fifth frame with a double. A wild pitch moved the outfielder to third base, allowing a sacrifice fly from Wyatt Duncan to score Carillo. The score gave BU a 4-1 lead in the late going but the Roadrunners were not done.

The host squad found their stride on offense tying the game with three runs in the fifth. The Roadrunners continued their roll with four more scores in the sixth to essentially put the game away. BU failed to put a runner on in the sixth and seventh frames on the way to the 8-4 finish.

Next up for Biola is the open to a three-game series against No. 4 CSU San Bernardino on Friday with a single road game at 2:00 pm.
