Rabe Joins the 1000 Point Club, Eagles Lose at ART U

Jordan Rabe recorded her 1000th career point in the Biola women’s basketball team’s 69-62 loss to Academy of Art at Laney College Gym.

OAKLAND, Calif.---Jordan Rabe recorded her 1000th career point in the Biola women's basketball team's 69-62 loss to Academy of Art at Laney College Gym.

Rabe led the Eagles with 14 points against the Urban Knights which brought her career total to 1,001 points.

The Eagles (14-13, 10-9 PacWest) led for a majority of the game, but the Urban Knights (6-19, 5-14) would run away with the lead in the final frame. 

ART U built up a nine-point lead in the first quarter that Biola would chip away at until they eventually tied up the game with 14 seconds remaining in the frame (16-16).

Eleni Cabrera supplied the game-tying jumper that she would get an and one opportunity on. Cabrera landed her free throw which gave Biola the advantage heading into the second quarter (17-16).

BU held the lead for the next two quarters. The Eagles had their best offensive showing in the second quarter where they scored 21 points to ART U's 15. Three Eagles scored five points including Rabe, Trasara Alexander and Cabrera. Natasa Radovic contributed four points and Jaycee Goldsmith had two.

Biola went on to achieve their biggest lead in the third quarter where they led Academy of Art by as much as 11 points (46-35). However, the Urban Knights would close the frame strong, scoring 12 points which only left Biola leading by a trey heading into the fourth (49-46).

Academy of Art carried their momentum into the fourth quarter where they scored 23 points while holding Biola to 13. 

The Urban Knights got to work early, scoring the first point of the fourth quarter off a free throw (49-47). Biola came back with the next basket, but ART U would answer with a 15-point run that put them ahead by 11 points (62-51).

Biola began chipping away and would make the game as close as three points with 28 seconds remaining on the game clock (65-62). However, the Eagles were forced to foul out in their 69-62 loss to ART U.

Biola is one win away from clinching a spot in the PacWest Championships. The Eagles need to win on Saturday (March 3) against Dominican to advance to postseason play.
