LA MIRADA—The Biola men's tennis team lost a competitive 4-3 battle to Concordia University Irvine at the Biola Tennis Courts.

The Eagles clinched the doubles point with wins on courts 1 and 2. Nico Ramírez and Adrian Solorzano, nationally-ranked as the 19th-best doubles team in Division II by ITA, defeated their opponents 6-2.

Alejandro Flores Monteverde and Patricio Larrea came through next with the doubles-clinching set, taking down their opponents 6-4.

CUI bounced back in singles, getting the first two wins on courts 3 and 2.

Flores Monteverde tied up the score, 2-2, in the next match for Biola where he knocked down CUI's Adam Kartzinel 6-0, 7-6.

No. 14 Ramírez battled on the first court against CUI's Max Renz. Ramírez worked back from behind to beat his opponent 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 which gave BU the 3-2 edge.

However CUI evened the score in the next match, taking the win on the fifth court.

All eyes turned to the sixth court as Callen Hein and CUI's Lemiel Tairahoy fought to win it all.

Hein worked ahead with a 6-2 win, but Tairahoy would take the final two sets 6-4, 6-4. Hein worked back from behind in multiple games, but would end up being edged by Tairahoy despite his great effort.

Biola will regroup and play next on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. against Point Loma.
