Eagles Fight, Sea Lions Prevail

The men’s tennis team finished a grueling match against Point Loma where the Eagles ended up falling 4-3 to the Sea Lions.

LA MIRADA---The Biola men's tennis team finished a grueling match against Point Loma where the Eagles ended up falling 4-3 to the Sea Lions.

Point Loma worked ahead with the doubles point, securing wins on the second and third courts to begin the match up 1-0. 

Biola battled in singles, taking Point Loma three sets deep in three matches and going to the tiebreakers in two. 

Point Loma jumped to a 2-0 lead as they won the first match of singles on the fifth court. Nico Ramirez put Biola on the board, defeating his opponent 6-4, 6-4 on the first court (2-1).

Adrian Solorzano tied the match up with his hard-fought victory on the second court. Solorzano won his first set 6-4 and won his next in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-2).

Alejandro Flores Monteverde clutched up in his set, beating his opponent 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6). Flores Monteverde worked ahead in his first set but PLNU's Nabeel Khan tied it up with his own 6-4 win.

The third set came down to a tiebreaker which Flores Monteverde edged Khan 7-6 (8-6).

Point Loma quickly tied it up (3-3), taking a three-set win on the third court. Patricio Larrea fought against PLNU's Andrew Suver but would end up falling 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

All eyes turned to the sixth court as Santiago Serralonga was fighting against PLNU's Matt Melosch. The pair split the first two sets 7-5, 5-7 and then Melosch would win the third 6-4.

Biola will regroup and prepare to play next on Monday, Feb. 26 against Jessup University at the Biola Tennis Courts.
