LA MIRADA---The nationally-ranked No. 24 Biola women's water polo team was edged 12-10 by Cal State Fullerton. The Titans had a fourth-quarter surge that allowed them to surpass the Eagles in an action-packed period. The Eagles (3-5 overall) and Titans (4-3) entered the final frame on a clean slate, tied 7-7. Marija Mijuskovic put BU ahead first, scoring the go-ahead goal at 6:33 (8-7). Biola's lead was short-lived as Cal State Fullerton tied it up a minute later and would continue to score three-consecutive goals that gave them a 11-8 advantage. BU bounced back with the next two goals, both courtesy of Mattie Herzog. The redshirt Sophomore scored at 2:01 and 1:10 to leave Biola chasing by one goal. Cal State Fullerton broke up the Eagles' momentum and scored the final goal of the game off a power play with 46 seconds remaining. Biola tried to turn things around but time would run out, resulting in their 12-10 loss at Splash Aquatic Center. Rachel Spadt led the Eagles' offense and earned her first hat trick of the season. Three Eagles contributed two goals each including Maria Roldan Gonzalez, Veralie Naranjo and Herzog. Damaris Kientz, Alicia Fregoso and Chloe McKay split time in the goal. Fregoso led the trio with 24 minutes and six saves. Kientz made three saves in eight minutes of action and McKay collected two saves against the Titans.
