Thurman Records Double-Double in Loss to Ranked CWU

Jessa Thurman recorded a double-double in Biola’s 88-53 loss to No. 24 Central Washington.

LA MIRADA---The Biola women's basketball team concluded their last non-conference game of the year against Central Washington. The Eagles (1-11, 1-3 PacWest) ended up losing 88-53 to the nationally-ranked No. 24 Wildcats (8-2, 1-0 Great Northwest) at Chase Gymnasium. 

The Eagles pulled together a good effort while having three key players unable to suit up. Jaycee Goldsmith achieved her second start of the season and Sydney Moran stepped up with her third. Goldsmith added five points to BU's score and contributed four rebounds. Moran was tied for a team-high of three assists with Laila Walker and Camden Miller.

Biola had two players score in the double-digits against CWU. BU was led by Jessa Thurman who recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Junior also had a game-high of three blocks and an assist against the Wildcats. 

Walker was the second Eagle to score in the double-digits, tallying 13. 

Biola held Central Washington to 36 rebounds while they collected 34. CWU usually averages 39 rebounds per game and their opponents 32.

Biola will resume conference play with Academy of Art up next on Thursday, January 2 at 5:30pm at Chase Gymnasium.
