A Senior Celebration

The women’s soccer team celebrated their seniors in style, taking home a 2-1 victory over Vanguard.

LA MIRADA---The Biola women's soccer team celebrated their seniors in style, taking home a 2-1 victory over Vanguard.

Biola scored goals in the 10th and 67th minutes. Marije Rechin scored Biola's first goal in the 10th minute with the assist coming from Serena Andrade. 

Peyton Nelson scored BU's second goal in the second half which would end up being the game-winner. Nelson was assisted by Rechin to put Biola up 2-0. 

Vanguard pushed across a goal in the 85th minute (2-1) but the Eagles would shut them down the remaining five minutes to secure their 2-1 triumph.

Autum Monty played the full 90 as the Eagles' keeper and made four crucial saves against the Lions.

Biola celebrated nine seniors before the match including Andrade, Abby Chavez, Abigail Cheung, Jordyn Provience, Chloe Diaz, Kierstin Havens, Jazmin Montalvo, Sarah Melvin and Chloe Laurin.

Biola improved 4-7-4 overall and 4-4-0 in the PacWest Conference while Vanguard slipped 2-8-2 and 1-5-2 overall. 

Next up for the Eagles is Point Loma on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2:15 p.m. at Point Loma Soccer Field.
