Eagles Shutout by Cougars

The Biola women’s soccer team was shutout 1-0 by Azusa Pacific at Al Barbour Field.

LA MIRADA—The Biola women's soccer team was shutout 1-0 by Azusa Pacific at Al Barbour Field.

The Eagles (2-6-4, 2-3-0 PacWest) and Cougars (7-2-1, 3-2) were neck-and-neck the entire first half. Neither team would be able to gain the advantage, but not from a lack of effort. Autum Monty made two saves in the first half to keep BU in the game and APU's keeper saved three.

Azusa Pacific managed to break through with the game-winner in the 74th minute (1-0). Monty made a crucial save in the 80th minute to keep the match close.

The Eagles responded a minute later with a shot on goal by Marije Rechin that would be saved by APU's goalie.

BU's offensive effort was led by Peyton Nelson and Rechin who both took three shots, two of which were on goal.

Monty totaled four saves from 86 minutes of action. Laura Brennan played the remaining four minutes to close out the game for Biola.

Biola plays next on Saturday, October 19th at 7 p.m. against Hawaii Pacific at Al Barbour Field.
