LA MIRADA—The Biola women's basketball team battled, but would be bested 58-50 by Fresno Pacific in the fourth quarter.

BU expanded their lead to six points when Jessa Thurman made the opening basket of the third frame (29-23), but the Sunbirds would start chipping away and continue to pull ahead with the lead with 3:24 on the game clock.

Fresno Pacific went on a three-point run that allowed them to get ahead 39-37. BU responded with a three-point run of their own that put them up by one (40-39).

The lead switched back and forth three more times before it would settle with FPU who led 45-42 headed into the final frame.

Just three points away from tying up the game, the Eagles geared up for the final quarter battle. After nine scoreless possessions, it was BU who cashed in with the first points of the fourth with 7:32 remaining in regulation. Laila Walker made the layup that closed the gap to one point (45-44).

Three more scoreless possessions transpired and then Jordan Rabe knocked down the next basket which gave Biola a one-point lead (46-45).

FPU tied the game up in the next possession (46-46), but Biola would grasp the lead in the next thanks to two good free throws by Thurman (48-46). However, the Eagles lead would be short-lived as FPU knotted the score again in the next possession and would go on a five-point run to lead 53-48.

The clock quickly ran out for the Eagles who weren't able to score again until there was just 42 seconds left in the game. Thurman narrowed the gap to three-points with her jumper in the paint (53-50), but Biola was forced to send FPU to the charity stripe and the Sunbirds would score five more points off free throws which would result in their 58-50 win.

Thurman led the Biola with a career-high of 16 points and she was followed by Rabe (7), Sydney Moran (6) and Eleni Cabrera (6). Thurman also led her team with six rebounds. Walker led the floor in assists, tallying six for the night.
