IRVINE, Calif. --- A pair of game-winners helped BU to the PacWest Men's Basketball Team of the Week honor, while Maximo Milovich added his second Defender of the Week award. The BU squad capped off 2023 and kicked off 2024 in spectacular fashion to pull the attention of the conference.

Biola ended last week on a six-game winning streak and a 5-1 record in PacWest play. In the two games following Christmas break, the Eagles brought the excitement with wins over two of their Hawaiian foes.

A two-point win over Hawaii Hilo immediately brought fireworks. A tie game with seconds to go led to heroics from Nathan Medina. The sophomore beat the buzzer and banked in the shot for a Biola win. Two days later, Daniel Esparza took his turn hitting the big shot. On New Year's Day, Esparza cashed in on a game-winner with five seconds on the clock, as the Eagles pulled off a comeback against the Silverswords.

The 2-0 week was aided by Milovich in the paint. The forward continued his impressive season, boosting his season averages to 11.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.

In the wins, Maximo tacked on two double-doubles for 26 points and 28 rebounds. He now boasts four double-doubles this season, while leading the conference in double-doubles, total rebounds, offensive rebounds, and defensive rebounds.

The Eagles will look to continue their winning ways on Friday in a home matchup against Fresno Pacific.
