BU Topples Titans

Biola took on the hosting squad of the weekend’s tournament and came out victorious against CSU Fullerton.

FULLERTON, Calif. --- An NCAA DI foe faced the Eagles on Saturday morning; a team that was receiving votes in the latest national poll in CSU Fullerton (9-6). A team effort from Biola led the Eagles (4-8) to a standout 14-12 victory over the Titans in the second day of action at the Titan Invitational.

The Eagles never backed down in a game where the two teams traded blows throughout the morning. Each team put together multiple runs of three-straight goals, including a five-goal stretch for BU in the third quarter.

The push in the third was a balanced attack from the visiting Eagles. Four different Eagles scored in the streak, as Biola built its biggest lead of the day at 11-7.

The rally kicked off with a pair of power plays for Biola. Nolan Rapp cashed in on the first advantageous opportunity, hitting the twine just over two minutes into the third. One minute later, the Eagles found themselves a man up again and this time Nick Murray scored to give BU the lead.

The onslaught continued on the Eagles' very next possession. Luke Franklin landed a goal from the middle just 30 seconds after Murray's tally. The momentum stayed with Biola with a goal from Rapp at the 2:24 mark in the quarter and then a goal from Kyle Seifen 20 seconds later.

CSUF put together a run of three-consecutive goals at the start of the game and at the end of the third but the Eagles always had a response.

Adam LaVoy and Maxwell Osborn came through in the clutch to secure the victory on Saturday. The duo combined for three goals in the final quarter to stifle any comeback effort from the Titans.

Rapp, Osborn, and Murray carried the load offensively with three goals apiece in the win. LaVoy was next with two, while Franklin and Roman Saroyan added one each.

Mitchell Carpenter picked up the victory between the posts for the Eagles. The BU keeper stopped 10 shots from the Titans for his sixth double-digit save outing of the year.

Biola will finish off the Titan Invitational with a battle against Air Force at 2:30 pm.
