BU Drops Afternoon Contest

The Eagles kept within range throughout the contest but could not overcome on Friday afternoon.

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Biola took on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the back half of its double feature on Friday at the Titan Invitational. The game was well-fought on both sides but CMS claimed the victory. Biola was tenacious on the comeback effort but ultimately fell with a 16-11 final score.

Through the early going, CMS seized the moment by utilizing small advantages in the first and second quarters. The first period ended with a last second score from CMS and the Stags went on to win the first two quarters by 4-2 in each.

The third quarter saw the big push from the Eagles. Including the final goal in the second quarter, Biola put together a pair of three-score rallies to cut its deficit to one. Joshua Halopoff kicked off the second half with two goals of his own.

The BU squad bounced back with three unique goal scorers in the second rally. Roman Saroyan, Adam LaVoy and Nolan Rapp went back-to-back-to-back late in the third to bring the team within one at 10-9.

Two more goals from Rapp was not enough, as CMS outscored the Eagles 6-2 in the final 8:01 of the contest.

Four Eagles nabbed multiple goals including Rapp, Halopoff, Saroyan, and Nick Murray. The team claimed nine assists on its 11 goals, as Saroyan, LaVoy, and Caleb Hernandez each logged a pair.

Hernandez added to his day with a team-high four steals on Friday.

BU will continue the Titan Invitational on Saturday, facing the host squad CSU Fullerton at 10:30 am.
