Biola Takes Game One

Friday’s double feature at the Titan Invitational began with a BU win over Austin College.

FULLERTON, Calif. --- The Eagles opened up a four-game stretch at the Titan Invitational with a Friday morning match against Austin College (0-5). Biola (3-7) took care of business for a 15-7 win over the Kangaroos.

The first half saw significant separation for BU. The Eagles scored nine-unanswered goals to build its biggest lead of the day at 11-2. 

In the second quarter alone, the Eagles boasted a four-goal advantage thanks to a shutout performance for the defense. In total, the BU defense held the Roos without a goal for over 17 minutes of game time.

Maxwell Osborn did his part offensively, scoring three of the team's first four goals of the day. A pair of them came off AC exclusions but the third was an even strength score to put the game at 4-2 in the early going. On the day, Osborn compiled four goals and two assists.

Mitchell Carpenter and Casey Cazanjian split the duties in the net with 16 minutes played each. Carpenter picked up the win, recording the first half of play with eight saves. Cazanjian entered after the halftime break and grabbed six saves.

Freshman Roman Saroyan was a menace with four points on Friday. Three goals and one assist filled up the stat sheet for the youngster but Saroyan also added a pair of sprint victories.

John Grasso and Jackson Sumwalt each logged multiple goals on Friday with the duo each landing two tallies.

Biola is back in the pool on Friday afternoon, facing Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 4:30pm.
