Eagles Force Tie

The women’s soccer team battled back from behind, forcing CSU Monterey Bay into a 1-1 tie in the second half.

LA MIRADA—The Biola women's soccer team battled back from behind, forcing CSU Monterey Bay into a 1-1 tie in the second half.

Peyton Nelson had the game-tying goal in the 56th minute with Halie Jamir supplying the assist from the midfield.

Autum Monty was phenomenal in the goal this afternoon, racking up four saves to keep BU in the match.

Monty made three saves in the first half, after the Otters (0-1-1 overall) go-ahead goal that occurred in the 5th minute.

The Eagles (0-1-1) fought to knot up the match in the first frame, but struggled to push past Monterey Bay's defense. Marije Rechin almost got the job done for Biola, but the Otter's goalkeeper made the key save with only three minutes remaining until halftime.

Biola brought the intensity in the second half, wasting no time in leveling the score. Nelson, after receiving a good ball from Jamir, charged forward and found the left corner of the net. With the score tied (1-1), the Eagles and Otters fought to find an opening but neither team would be able to break the stalemate. CSUMB came close, firing a on goal shot in the 68th minute but couldn't get past Monty who cleanly made the save.

The Eagles play next on Wednesday, Sep. 13 at 7 p.m. at CSU East Bay.
