LOS ANGELES, Calif.---The Biola women's soccer team fought to the very end in their 2-1 loss to Cal State Los Angeles at University Soccer Stadium.

The Golden Eagles (2-1-1 overall) scored their first goal in the 38th minute of the first half, despite Biola's (0-4-1 overall) great defensive efforts. Autum Monty faced eight shots from CSULA in the first half and made two saves.

CSU Los Angeles distanced themselves with their second goal in the 53rd minute (2-0), but that didn't discourage Biola who continued to push forward and challenge the Golden Eagles to the very end. 

Biola's efforts were finally rewarded in the 70th minute. Sarah Melvin scored BU's lone goal, receiving a good ball from Serena Andrade outside the box that she rocketed toward the far right post. Melvin's goal was the second goal of her career. 

The momentum was flowing BU's way, but the Eagles wouldn't be able to get past CSU Los Angeles in what would be an exciting matchup to the very end. 

With just six minutes remaining and the Eagles' down by one, they challenged the Golden Eagles' keeper with three shots on-goal that were each saved in the next five minutes. CSULA's keeper ended up making seven saves in the second half to keep Biola at bay.

Monty made another save in the second half, making her game total three against 14 shots.

Biola plays next on Saturday, Sep. 16 at 11 a.m. against Chico State at Al Barbour Field.
