LA MIRADA --- BU men's basketball has bolstered its staff under Head Coach Dave Holmquist. The team added Evan Jenkins as an assistant coach with the upcoming season set to start on November 10 with the PacWest/CCAA Crossover Tournament. 

"I am excited to have Evan join our staff," commented Head Coach Dave Holmquist. "I am confident that he will make some great contributions to our program."

Jenkins combined a solid playing career and strong coaching career before accepting the new opportunity in La Mirada. 

"Evan is a strong Christian leader who has coached at both The Master's and Lewis-Clark State. I anticipate that he will be a good recruiter, an effective teacher in practice, and relate well with the players. He is a hard worker and has a bright future in coaching," added Holmquist.

Most recently, Jenkins was the lead assistant at Lewis-Clark State, a NAIA program in Lewiston, Idaho. During his one year stay at LC State, the team corralled 14 regular season wins with 11 conference victories.

A wealth of experience for Jenkins came from his days at The Master's. Four years on the Mustang's coaching staff saw plenty of success with three-consecutive seasons of 20 plus wins and a GSAC Tournament Championship in 2019. 

During his coaching career, Evan pushed forward in his higher education, looking to add to his undergraduate degree. In his postgraduate studies, Jenkins picked up a pair of master's degrees in Biblical counseling and education in teaching. 

Jenkins joined the TMU coaching staff following three years on the court for the Mustangs. He was the starting point guard throughout his career and helped the team to its first NAIA National Tournament appearance in 17 years.

The BU men's basketball staff will now feature Evan Jenkins and John Stiver under one of the winningest coaches in collegiate basketball history in Head Coach Dave Holmquist. The 2023-24 season is set to begin for the Eagles on November 10.
