A Score Reversal

The scoreline flipped on the Eagles on Saturday, as they dropped game two to Long Island, 16-13.

CLAREMONT, Calif. --- A 16-13 finish began the day and ended the day, as Biola won by that margin in game one and lost by it in game two. In the latter game, BU (9-10) kept pace with the Long Island Sharks but a better second half from LIU sealed the game.

The Sharks made the first move on Saturday, tacking on the first two goals of the game.

Biola was quick to respond, putting together an impressive rally to gain control of the contest. Through seven and a half minutes, the Eagles put together a 6-1 run, starting with a score from Mattie Herzog.

The goals did not stop though, as Rachel Spadt, Kourtney Pyle and Herzog each tallied a pair of scores in the run. Pyle was cooking in the first half. The attacker was finding the right angles, netting five goals in 16 minutes.

LIU had an answer before the halftime break. The Sharks posted four unanswered goals for themselves and forced a tie at the half.

Neither offense came out firing in the second half with just three goals in the first five minutes of the third stanza. Biola eked ahead with two scores, one from Spadt and Marija Mijuskovic

The one-goal lead did not last long, as the Sharks began to roll at the end of the third. The rest of the way, LIU led after going on a 7-1 run with all the momentum.

Spadt and Pyle combined for 10 of the team's 13 goals on Saturday afternoon. Pyle was the leader in the clubhouse with six, while three Eagles logged assists including Maria Roldan Gonzalez, Herzog, and Mia Mulhall.

The Eagles will now prepare for another double feature next Saturday, taking on Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
