Swing it Like Serratos

Oscar Serratos had his hand in every scoring rally for BU, as the Eagles took home a 9-3 victory.

LA MIRADA --- Biola welcomed Academy of Art to Eagles Diamond on Saturday morning to begin a doubleheader. Oscar Serratos brought the spark to game one, helping the Eagles (9-17, 3-6 PacWest) to a 9-3 win over the Urban Knights (10-13, 3-6 PacWest).

The Biola Boys scored a run in four separate innings and the common theme across each was an at bat and run from Serratos. The right fielder was on fire at the plate with four hits all going for extra bases. Serratos was a single away from his second-career cycle, while logging two homers, a triple and a double on Saturday.

Six of the nine BU runs involved Serratos, who ended up tallying four runs scored and four RBIs. Numbers three through six in the lineup corralled all eight RBIs for the Eagles, including a pair from Taylor Justus.

Wyatt Duncan was the one to give the Eagles the lead that would stick through the final out. The first baseman fought through an 11-pitch at bat to grab a double down the left field line, scoring Tyler White for a 4-3 BU advantage.

Gilbert Lopez got the job done for Biola on the mound. The righty came into a sticky situation in the fifth inning, facing a bases loaded jam. Lopez found a strikeout to end the frame with no more damage done.

The strikeouts continued to flow for Lopez as his day continued. Through 3.1 innings on the mound, Lopez grabbed eight strikeouts, striking out 66.7 percent of the batters that he faced. The senior picked up his second win of the season in the outing.

Five Eagles recorded multiple hits in game one, including Serratos, Duncan, Justus, Noah Ruiz, and Sam Lisiak.

Game two is set to start at 2:30 pm at Eagles Diamond.
