LA MIRADA--- The Biola Men's Tennis team opened up the 2023 season with a 4-0 sweep against Hope International at the Biola Tennis Center. 

The Eagles (1-0 overall) started off doubles play with three solid wins, successfully taking the overall doubles point against the Royals (0-1 overall).

Isaac Cordova and Callen Hein teamed up to lead Biola with a 6-0 win on the third court and were followed closely by Alexei Prokopchuk and Antonio Rosales Varona with a 6-1 win on court 1.

BU and HIU played out the third court which resulted in a 6-4 win for the Eagles, thanks to Sebastian Herrera and Adrian Solorzano.

The singles matches were played to clinch and Biola efficiently utilized their momentum coming out of doubles. Rosales Varona secured the Eagles first singles win with a 6-2, 6-1 win on the second court, followed by Prokopchuk on the first (6-3, 6-1) and then Hein concluded the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win on the sixth court which resulted in Biola's 4-0 victory.

Solorzano and Cordova were leading their opponents on courts 3 and 5, but their matches were unfinished due to the Eagles' quick wins on the second, first and sixth courts. 

 Biola plays next tomorrow Friday, Feb. 3 at 12 p.m. against Westmont.
