KANSAS CITY --- With the final week of regular season play underway for the Biola men's basketball squad, post season awards began to flow. Academic excellence was recognized for the Eagles, as Alex Wright was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.

The 2022‐23 Academic All‐District Men's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognized the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America program separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Wright has exemplified peak performance on and off the court for the Eagles throughout his five-year career. In the 2022-23 season, Wright averaged 37.3 minutes, 15.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals through 23 games. 

The senior went bonkers on February 2, helping the Eagles take down Dominican. Wright piled up a career-high 30 points in the matchup, including 11 points in the final minute to give Biola the lead.

In the classroom, Wright compiled a cumulative GPA above the minimum threshold for the award of 3.5, while majoring in Personal Financial Planning. The 2023 selection marked his second selection for the academic all-district honor.

Wright and the Eagles are back in action on Tuesday night, facing off against Hawaii Hilo at 7:30 pm inside Chase Gym.
