Eagles Fall Short

The men’s tennis team fell just short in their 4-3 loss to Concordia.

LA MIRADA--- The Biola Men's Tennis put up a hard fight, but ended up losing 4-3 against Concordia. 

Concordia (3-1 overall) took the lead with the doubles point. Alexei Prokopchuk and Antonio Rosales Varona put the Eagles (3-2 overall) ahead with a 6-2 win on the first court, but back-to-back CUI wins on the third and second courts would do the trick for the Golden Eagles.

Adrian Solorzano leveled the field with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over CUI's James Caddies. Concordia answered back with the next singles point on the fifth court, taking a 2-1 lead.

Prokopchuk tied up the match for Biola with a 6-2, 6-3 win over CUI's Leon Czarnikau (2-2), but shortly after BU would drop their match on the second court and Concordia led 3-2 with two matches going on courts 3 and 6.

Rosales Varona recorded the Eagles final win over CUI's Tim Nutz. Rosales Varona defeated Nutz 6-4, 6-3 which tied up the score once again (3-3).

All eyes were on court 6 as Callen Hein and CUI's Adam Large were battling it out for the clinching-victory. Hein lost his first set 7-5 and ended up falling short in his second set which resulted in the Golden Eagles 4-3 win.

Biola will regroup and prepare to play next on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at Azusa Pacific.
