AZUSA, Calif. --- Friday's non-conference doubleheader continued with a clean sweep for APU. The Cougars (5-6) came out swinging with a five-run first and took the win over BU (3-6) in a 6-1 game two.
The two teams saw the completion of the first half of their four-game series over the weekend with the game two final. APU opened the season ranked 14th in the nation and most recently were receiving votes in the latest NCBWA National Top-25 poll.
The Eagles fell behind in a flash in game two with clutch hitting from the Cougars. Biola did well to strike out two of the first three hitters faced in the bottom of the first. Unfortunately, the team could not complete the third out. APU logged three-straight hits after a walk and hit by pitch to pile on five runs and take a commanding lead.
BU rallied to impact the scoreboard in the third.
Tyler White got it started with a single, before moving to second on a failed pickoff attempt.
Wyatt Duncan remained reliable with runners in scoring position, logging the RBI and scoring White with a single through the left side of the infield.
Jake Anderson took over on the mound and settled in quickly. The righty tacked on four innings in relief, giving up just one run, while striking out five.
Tristan Cazel tacked on a scoreless inning of relief as well.
The Biola bats struggled to get going with three hits in the seven-inning affair.
Biola will look to bounce back with another doubleheader against Azusa Pacific on Saturday at 11:00 am at Eagles Diamond.
