Rabe Records Double-Double, BU Wins

Jordan Rabe led the way in the women’s basketball team’s 73-54 win against Academy of Art.

LA MIRADA---Jordan Rabe led the way in the Biola women's basketball team's 73-54 win against Academy of Art at Chase Gymnasium.

Rabe earned her first double-double of the season, leading the Eagles' with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Nine of Rabe's boards were defensive and she further showcased her strength on defense by collecting one of Biola's two blocks of the night. 

The Graduate Student also led BU in threes, going 5-for-9 downtown and in the field where she shot 6-for-11. 

Biola led by a point (13-12) after the first quarter and went on to distance themselves in the second by scoring a game-high 23 points. 

The Eagles executed a balanced scoring effort with freshman Jaycee Goldsmith leading the squad with eight points. Following Goldsmith was Jessa Thurman (4), Kaylen Kamelamela (3), Alyssa Kubo (3), Rabe (2), Laila Walker (2) and Trasara Alexander (1).

Biola built up a 13-point lead in the second and headed into the halftime break up 36-23.

Academy of Art came back from the break energized and went on to outscore BU 20-17 in the third. Despite a great effort by the Urban Knights, the Eagles kept their pace and led by a healthy 10 points heading into the final frame (53-43).

The Eagles prevailed in the fourth quarter where they came back to outscore the Urban Knights 20-11. Biola built up their lead by as much as 20 points in the fourth frame on a beyond the arc basket by Sydney Moran, but ART U would cut it down to 19 in their 73-54 victory at Chase Gymnasium.
