IRVINE, Calif. --- Biola is ready for a fresh start in 2023-24 but will rely on familiar faces in the new season. Daniel Esparza took advantage of his first year in La Mirada and will now enter the upcoming campaign as a Preseason All-PacWest selection. Biola also made its way into the Preseason PacWest Poll, tying for fourth.

Biola men's basketball finished the regular season last year in fifth place in conference play. The team was victorious in the opening round of the conference tourney, placing them in the top four in the PacWest's postseason.

The PacWest voted the Eagles to have a similar finish for the upcoming season, tying for fourth in the preseason poll. BU was knotted up with the reigning PacWest Champions of Point Loma with 86 points in the poll.

The coaches of the conference also voted on six Preseason All-PacWest selections. Daniel Esparza earned the honor, following a stellar sophomore campaign. Esparza paced the Eagles on offense last year, averaging 15.7 points and 2.4 assists per game on the way to a Second Team All-PacWest recognition.

Esparza and the Eagles will kick off the new season on Friday, November 10 when they host the PacWest/CCAA Crossover Tournament.
