Getting the Job Done

The women’s basketball team got the job done on the road, coming back from behind to defeat Western Oregon 66-50 at the Felix Event Center.

AZUSA, Calif.---The Biola women's basketball team got the job done on the road, coming back from behind to defeat Western Oregon 66-50 at the Felix Event Center.

The Eagles had a slow start, but would bounce back to defeat the Wolves. Biola grasped the lead in the third quarter and would hold it for the remainder of the game.

After the first half, Biola trailed Western Oregon 33-29 but wasted nearly no time in taking control in the third quarter where they nabbed the lead in the first two minutes. 

Jessa Thurman scored the first basket of the quarter which closed the gap to a basket (33-31). Western Oregon recovered on the next possession which extended their lead to four points (35-31). BU answered back with a well-timed three by Laila Walker and a good layup by Jordan Rabe which would put them ahead by one (36-35).

Biola extended their lead by as much as 18 points in the fourth quarter, putting in some offensive work in the final two frames where they out-scored WOU 37-17.

Rabe was dominant against the Wolves, recording her first double-double of the season off of 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Spokane, Wash. native shot 6-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 on the free throw line.

Two other Eagles scored in the double digits. Walker and Alyssa Kubo both scored 11 points against the Wolves.

Biola plays next tomorrow, Saturday Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. against Cal Poly Humboldt.
