Seven teams went 1-1 on the week, including Biola but the Eagles stood out for the individual weekly awards. Nathan Medina earned the PacWest Player of the Week award for his offensive prowess, while Casey Cappo dominated the other end of the floor for the PacWest Defender of the Week honor.

Biola men's basketball saw its season opener at home on Friday, taking on CSULA. Turnovers hurt the Eagles in the loss but the team bounced back and triumphed over CSU San Marcos on Saturday to even their record at 1-1.

The sophomore was efficient as well, sinking 55.2 percent of his shots from the floor and 53.8 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc. He matched the efficiency with volume, hitting seven three-pointers and 16 field goals through the two games.

Cappo brought a well-rounded game to the week, while dominating the glass. The junior grabbed 23 rebounds to average 11.5 boards per game. In the season opener, Cappo claimed a double-double, pairing 11 rebounds with 14 points. The Walnut Creek, California native was also great at protecting the rim with two blocks.

The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday, facing CSU San Bernardino on the road at 7:00 pm.
