Eagles Fall to Yotes

The women’s basketball battled with CSUSB, but ended up falling 51-41 to the Yotes.

LA MIRADA---The Biola women's basketball battled with CSU San Bernardino, but ended up falling 51-41 to the Yotes at Chase Gymnasium.

CSUSB got off to a strong start, out-scoring Biola 15-5 in the first frame. The Eagles regrouped in between quarters and came back with their most dominant frame of the game where they out-scored the Yotes 15-11.

Natasa Radovic led the second-quarter effort with eight points and she was followed by Jessa Thurman (2), Trasara Alexander (2), Kaylen Kamelamela (2) and Jordan Rabe (1).

The Eagles came as close as three points in the second, but the Yotes would eventually build up a six-point lead (26-20).

Biola looked sharp coming back from the half time break, scoring the first three baskets which gave BU their first lead of the game (27-26). However, their lead was short-lived as the Yotes took it back with their next basket and would hold it for the remainder of the game.

The next time BU would come close to pulling ahead was in the fourth. Biola scored the first two baskets of the frame which left them chasing the Yotes by just two points. However, CSUSB managed to put down a well-timed three that put them up by five and slowed BU's momentum (41-36).

Jordan Rabe would cut the Yotes' lead to three at 5:16 but once again CSU San Bernardino would make the next basket and ultimately distance themselves by 10 points in the Eagles' eventual 51-41 loss.

Radovic was Biola's leading scorer with 10 points. Rabe and Thurman were BU's next best scorers with eight points each.

Rabe led BU on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds. Behind her was Radovic with nine and Thurman with six.

Radovic also led the Eagles with four steals.

Biola plays next on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. in an exhibition game against Loyola Marymount at the Gersten Pavilion.
