Biola Routs the Sunbirds

The winning streak improved to eight for Biola after a 13-2 rout of Fresno Pacific.

LA MIRADA --- The second day of a four day homestand brought another WWPA matchup for the Biola Eagles (12-9, 2-0 WWPA). The BU men's water polo squad took care of business with a 13-2 victory over Fresno Pacific (3-10, 0-1 WWPA) on Thursday afternoon, extending their winning streak to eight games.

"We are off to a great start in conference and we have been putting in the work in practice," said Nolan Rapp. "It is a great feeling but at the end of the day, the job is not finished."

The team opened up conference play this week with back-to-back games on Wednesday and Thursday, culminating with their win over the Sunbirds. The duo of wins moved the team to 2-0 in WWPA play, while adding another win to the program's longest winning streak in its history.

On Thursday, BU came out strong with five unanswered goals in the opening quarter. It only took 14 seconds for the Eagles to get on the board with Nick Murray scoring on the first possession of the contest. Biola tacked on two more goals in the final minute of the period to open up a 5-0 advantage.

The only two goals for the Sunbirds came in the second quarter. In the other three stanzas, the Eagles' defense held the visitors silent with three blanks on the scoreboard.

The Biola offense stayed well-rounded with 11 goal scorers for the team's 13 total tallies. Jackson Sumwalt shined in the middle with two goals and was matched for the team-high with Roman Saroyan

The Eagles are "on to the next day" and will host part of the CBU Lancer Joust at Splash with matches against Toronto at 8:30 am and Westcliff at 2:00 pm on Friday.
