Eagles Rack Up Five Goals

The women’s soccer team racked up five goals in their 5-1 victory over Fresno Pacific at Ramirez Field.

FRESNO, Calif.---The Biola women's soccer team racked up five goals in their 5-1 victory over Fresno Pacific at Ramirez Field.

The Eagles improved 4-9-1 overall and 3-4 in the PacWest Conference while the Sunbirds slipped 2-12-1 and 1-6-1 in the conference. Biola also grew their winning streak to three matches.

The Eagles got off to a strong start, scoring three goals in the first half and two in the first 25 minutes. 

Biola's leading goal scorer, Peyton Nelson, knocked in the first goal of the match in the 11th minute which brought her season total to six. Nelson is currently tied for the third-most goals in the league with three others. 

Abby Chavez netted the Eagles' next goal in the 25th minute with freshman Faith Shaw contributing the assist which was the first of her career.

A little over 12 minutes later, Shaw would improve upon her already exciting night by scoring BU's third goal of the match and the first of her career. Kierstin Havens assisted Shaw in the 37th minute.

Biola continued their good work into the second half and managed to score two more goals. 

Ella Grannis would also have a night to remember, going on to score BU's final goals of the game which would be the first two of her college career.

Grannis' first goal, and Biola's fourth of the match, occurred in the 77th minute. Grannis received a good ball from Havens (who logged her second assist of the night) and put BU up, 4-0.

Grannis' second goal was the last of the night. The Freshman's solo goal happened in the 84th minute, which was a little over two minutes after a Fresno Pacific goal.

Autum Monty made four saves in the Eagles' 5-1 win, one was in the first half and three were in the second. Monty only allowed FPU one goal after facing eight shots and her goals against average of 1.429 is the ninth-best in the PacWest.

Next up for Biola is Dominican on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. at Al Barbour Field.
