Game Recap: Men's Water Polo | | Ethan McGarvey, Sports Information Director

Seniors Celebrated

Biola men’s water polo honored its seniors on Wednesday with its final home contest of the season.

LA MIRADA --- Joshua Halopoff, Dominic Hidalgo-Valecillo, and Maxwell Osborn were celebrated on Wednesday during the team's Senior Day Ceremony. The group of veterans included a pair of BU inaugural team players in Osborn and Hidalgo-Valecillo.

On Wednesday, the Biola squad took to the pool in an exhibition match against Saddleback College. The contest did not count towards the Eagles season stats or record.

The Eagles were the team to jump ahead first, utilizing a 4-0 stretch between the second and third quarter. Nick Murray gave BU the lead near the end of the second with a score at 1:16. Nolan Rapp added another one before the half, ending a 4-1 second quarter in favor of Biola.

Saddleback faced a 9-5 deficit, entering the fourth quarter but the visitors turned it up a notch. The Bobcats scored three unanswered goals and ultimately put together a 6-2 final stanza to force overtime. SC knotted the game at 11 with 59 seconds to go, moving the game to a pair of three-minute periods.

Biola looked good going into the extra period, attacking first with a goal from Caleb Hernandez. The sophomore skidded a shot in after a nice pass fake to the middle.

Unfortunately, the Bobcats had a response. Saddleback posted three goals in the final three-minute stretch and came out with the 14-12 win.

Roman Saroyan shined with five goals for the Eagles on Wednesday. Hernandez added one of his own to go with three assists and three steals. Osborn added two assists of his own, while tallying a single goal as well.

Biola will be back in action at Concordia for its final conference game, facing off at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 2.
