Eagles Fall to No. 5 Vulcans

The women’s soccer team battled with #5 Hawaii Hilo, but would end up losing 2-0 after a shaky start.

HILO, Hawaiʻi---The Biola women's soccer team battled with the United Soccer Coaches Association's fifth-best team in the nation, Hawaiʻi Hilo, but ended up losing 2-0 at the Vulcans Soccer Field.

The No. 5 Vulcans (9-0-1 overall, 5-0 PacWest) came out strong, scoring two goals in the first 22 minutes. UHH's first goal occurred in the 3rd minute of the match and the second was in the 22nd, just after a team save by Biola (1-9-1, 0-4).

Despite a shaky start, the Eagles managed to turn it around and continue to hold Hawaiʻi Hilo scoreless for the remainder of the game.

BU worked in four shots, all of which were on-goal and saved by the Vulcans' keeper. Serena Andrade, Abby Chavez, Halie Jamir, and Cassidy Sims recorded one shot each.

Autum Monty made two saves in the second half that kept the match close. The Junior's saves were made in the 79th and 81st minutes. 

The Eagles will continue their Hawaiʻi road trip with their next opponent being Chaminade on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m. PT at Saint Louis Field.
