Warriors Attack in Second Half

The women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Stanislaus State due to second half antics.

Turlock, Calif.---Stanislaus State stepped up in the second half, solidifying a 2-0 victory over the Biola University women's soccer team at Warrior Stadium on Saturday night.

The Eagles held a strong defensive front in the first half where they fended off the Warrior's advancements. Freshman Savanna Tavares made her debut in the goal, contributing four saves to help keep Biola in the game as the Eagles worked to push a goal across.

The second half proved favorable to Stanislaus State who made some crucial halftime adjustments, sinking in two goals in the 63rd and 74th minutes. Despite Biola's best efforts to counter, they were unable to get past the Warrior's Alexia Estrada who made four saves in the final frame.

Stanislaus State slightly outshot Biola 12-11 and both teams had six shots on target. Abby Chavez led the offensive effort with four shots followed by Frances Andrade, Rachel Melvin, Sarah Freed, Halie Jamir, and Peyton Nelson who fired one each.

Biola plays next Thursday, September 8 against Cal Poly Humboldt at Chico State's University Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. for the Eagles and Jacks.
