The women’s soccer team fell 5-0 to Concordia University Irvine, but they now know what to work on for their conference rematch in a couple weeks.

IRVINE, Calif.--- The Biola University women's soccer team fell 5-0 to the Concordia University Irvine Golden Eagles in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.

It wasn't the outcome Biola was looking for, but the Eagles will see the Golden Eagles again in three weeks for their conference rematch back in Irvine. Biola is now 1-5-2 overall, while Concordia improved 5-2-1.

CUI had a strong performance against BU, putting up three goals in the first half and two goals in the second while holding the Eagles scoreless.

Concordia's first three goals were in the 2nd, 9th, and 40th minutes. Biola's attempts to level out the playing field were thwarted courtesy of two saves by CUI's Riley Urquiza.

The second half proved favorable to the Golden Eagles who put up a strong defensive front, warding off six Biola shots. CUI's Hailey Asato also made four saves in the final frame.

Concordia continued to score two additional goals, improving their lead (5-0).

Despite the score, Concordia only slightly outshot Biola (12-11). CUI also only had three more shots on goal than BU, 9-6.

Freshman Savanna Tavares made four saves in 90 minutes of action.

Biola will head back to La Mirada, regroup and prepare for their first conference match on Thursday, September 29 at 4:30 p.m. against Fresno Pacific at Al Barbour Field.
