LA MIRADA --- The 2021-22 year was jam-packed with action from Biola's 18 programs who overcame obstacles which led to successes, thrilling moments, and memories that will last forever. As the 2022-23 year approaches, we would like to look back and highlight some special moments from the past year for our fall, winter and spring sports. Each team will be recognized in a three part series categorized by their respective season.

The men's swim team closed off the 2021-22 season with their third-consecutive top-three team finish at the PCSC Championships. BU totaled 16 podium finishes at the PCSC Championships, bringing home one gold, five silver, and 10 bronze medals.

Individually, the Eagles had five swimmers finish in the top-25. Jacob Haaksma and Gabe Weber led the charge with fifth and seventh place finishes. Haaksma also broke a school record in one of the preliminary rounds of the conference championships with a speedy 57.05 finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.

Meanwhile, the women's squad took off in the pool for an impressive 2021-22 season. BU pushed forward into fourth place at the Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference Championships. The team pulled together five podium finishes in Utah, including one gold, three silver and one bronze.

Grace Kling and Liza Parahnevich paced the Eagles at the conference championships, tallying 83 and 81 points, respectively. Kling picked up the lone event win for Biola by storming past the field for the 200 breaststroke crown. The Brea, California native carried on to compete in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the end of the season. The second-year swimmer battled it out in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, taking 31st and 21st, respectively.

Biola men's basketball collected 21 wins in the 2021-22 campaign, reaching the 20-win threshold for the first time in five years. BU logged an eight-game win streak from January 22 through February 12, defeating a PacWest foe in each contest. In postseason play, Biola picked up a win against Concordia in the opening round of the PacWest Championships, before being eliminated in the semifinals for a third place finish.

Two Eagles reached the 1,000 point milestone at Biola, including Chris Rossow and Alex Wright. The duo plus Michael Bagatourian each made the All-PacWest team at the conclusion of the season. Bagatourian produced a highlight performance on December 2, posting 36 points on 68.4 percent shooting against the visiting FPU Sunbirds.

Defense reigned supreme for the Biola women's basketball team, who held their opponent under 60 points in 15 bouts. BU ranked 35th nationally in steals per game (10.3) and opponent's field goal percentage (36.4). The clamps came down on nationally ranked and eventual PacWest Champions Azusa Pacific on February 19, as the Eagles held APU to 51 points in a thrilling win at Chase Gym.

The Eagles would go on to win in the first round of the PacWest tournament and finish in third place. PacWest Freshman of the year Amiah Simmons shined for BU, bringing unstoppable offense into the mix for BU. The squad pulled in a pair of All-PacWest postseason honors, including Simmons on the second team and Stephanie Lee on the third team.
