ST. GEORGE, Utah — Day three at the Pacific Collegiate Swimming & Diving Conference Championships saw two new school records and four new podium finishes take place.

Patrick Waggoner broke the 400-IM and landed himself on the podium in the same event by placing third with a 4:06.20.

Jacob Haaksma continued his fantastic meet with a school record in the 100-breaststroke. He had one of two fourth-place finishes for the Eagles with his time of :57.05.

On the women's side a pair of runner-up finishes led the day. Liza Parahnevich took second place in the 400-IM with a 4:28.43 while Grace Kling went 1:04.18 in the 100-breaststroke to also finish second. 

Those top individual finishes helped another strong day in the team scores. The men's side maintained its narrow advantage over Concordia University Irvine with 524.5 points. It is 20.5 points up on CUI and, perhaps more importantly just seven points back from the team leading the way, UC Santa Cruz (531.5).

On the women's side, the day's scoring helped lift Biola into fourth place, which was one spot up from day two. Biola has accumulated 612 points to sit behind only Pepperdine, CSU East Bay, and Azusa Pacific.

The men kept its relay podium streak intact with a third-place mark in the 400-medley relay. Ryan Monrean, Haaksma, Nathan Schwantes and Tanner Smith combined to go 3:24.77 to finish third. The women's group of Kolya Vos, Kling, Parahnevich and Morgan Kampfer went 3:55.37 to place fourth, less than a half-second behind rivals APU.

Jackson Black was one of the other individuals with a fourth-place finish. The Eagles' sophomore went :51.43 in the 100-backstroke to set a new career-best. Another was Jake Michelsen who continued a string of impressive finishes by placing fourth in the 200-freestyle (1:42.41). The 200-free was an event where there was two Eagles in the 'A' final with Waggoner placing eighth (1:43.84).

The 400-IM was the big points-earner for Biola on Friday night with four on each side making it through to the finals. On the men's side that included two in the 'A' final, the third-place mark from Waggoner and the sixth-place spot from Gavin Souttere (4:10.23).

The meet comes to a close on Saturday at the Human Performance Center in St. George with another full day of swims.
