Biola fired 22 shots in their 4-0 win over Academy of Art at Paul Goode Field.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.---The Biola University women's soccer team was firing away against Academy of Art in their 4-0 win over the Urban Knights at Paul Goode Field.

The Eagles outshot the Urban Knights 22-5. Biola unleashed 15 shots in the first half while ART U was only able to get two across. Academy of Art managed to dial Biola back a bit in the final frame, only allowing them seven shots to ART U's three.

Christine Maranville seemed to have some momentum going her way, playing a role in three of Biola's four goals in her 38 minutes of action. She assisted the first two in the first half and sent in BU's final goal in the 60th minute.

The Eagles did the majority of their damage in the first half, scoring three goals.

Freshman Marije Rechin broke the ice when she scored the first goal in the 34th minute. Maranville found Rechin in at the top of the box who sent a high shot past the Urban Knights goalkeeper.

The next goal was scored in the 40th minute by Catrina Gonzalez. Ella Hiveley took the corner kick and found Maranville outside the box who crossed the ball to Gonzalez. Gonzalez quickly received the ball and sent in the Eagles' second goal (2-0).

Abby Chavez then scored Biola's third goal in the 43rd minute with assists from Madi Reeves and Gonzalez.

Biola would score one more goal in the second half before it was all said and done. Maranville hit the top right corner in the 60th minute which would be the final goal of the match. Jazmin Montalvo picked up the final assist in the Eagles 4-0 victory.

Anna Boyer and Savanna Taveres split time in the goal in their combined shutout. Boyer started the match and picked up two saves. Tavares tag-teamed Boyer, entering in the beginning of the second half and efficiently closed out the match.

Biola improved 2-6-1 overall and 1-1 in PacWest Conference, while ART U fell 0-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play. BU currently ranks sixth in the conference standings and will continue playing their Northern California road trip. Their next match is on Saturday October 8 at 12 p.m against Dominican.
