IRVINE, Calif. — A plethora of new faces littered the Biola roster, heading into the 2022-23 campaign but a familiar name was honored by the PacWest. Alex Wright made the Preseason All-PacWest Team, while the BU men's basketball squad placed fourth in the preseason poll.



The Eagles corralled 77 points in the preseason poll, ranking all 11 teams in the PacWest conference. The BU team was sandwiched between No. 3 Academy of Art and No. 5 Concordia, while trailing the top two of Azusa Pacific and Point Loma.

Biola is coming off a season of 14 wins in conference play in 2021-22. A mix of transfers and graduates from the previous squad saw the need for quite a few newcomers, entering the new campaign. BU added 10 new players over the offseason, while returning only four players who saw the court last year.

2021-22 Second Team All-PacWest selection Alex Wright was honored by the PacWest on Friday with a Preseason All-PacWest Team recognition. The four-year starter was one of the best all-around talents in the conference last season, providing 426 points, 206 rebounds and 93 assists.

Last season, Wright tallied four double-doubles, while ranking in the top-12 in the PacWest for points, rebounds, assists and minutes per game. The 6-5 guard posted a double-digit scoring output in 24 contests and tied a career-best mark of 28 points in a single game.

Biola basketball will get its start in 2022 with a bout against Cal State LA on November 11. The team will set foot in Chase Gymnasium for the first time on November 14 when they face off against Antelope Valley.

PacWest play for the Eagles is set to begin on December 1 on the road against Fresno Pacific.
