IRVINE, Calif.--- The Biola University Women's Soccer Team fought it out against an offensively aggressive Concordia on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles made a great effort against the Golden Eagles, but were ultimately unable to push past CUI.
"Our ladies battled well against a very tough Concordia side," said head coach
Erin Brunelle. "We executed our defensive strategy well and had outstanding performances from
Christine Maranville,
Frances Andrade, and our backline all game long.
Anna Boyer and
Savanna Tavares also made big saves respectively."

The Golden Eagles jumped ahead with the 2-0 lead in the first half, scoring in the 32nd and 36th minutes.Â

Biola regrouped after the break and got on the board with a goal by senior defender Francis Andrade. Andade knocked in the first goal of her career to get the Eagles on the board, 2-1.

Despite a great effort by Biola, CUI would score one more goal in the 59th minute before their eventual 3-1 win.
Anna Boyer and
Savanna Tavares split time in the goal. Boyer started the match and collected four saves. Tavares entered after halftime and had three saves.

Brunelle concluded, "We continue to learn from each game and will prepare for our next tough opponent on the road at Azusa."

Biola plays Azusa Pacific on Wednesday, October 19 at 5 p.m.
