Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Haley Martinez, Sports Information Assistant

A New Day, A New Opportunity

BU had control of the game on Friday evening, dominating the third quarter, leading them into an overall team win.

LA MIRADA --- Biola (11-6,7-3 PacWest) women's basketball used a balanced offensive attack against Chaminade (1-12,0-9 PacWest) on Friday to pick up an 81-45 win over the Silverswords at home in Chase Gymnasium.

After a hard loss from the night before, the Eagles came out fired up and ready to take advantage of the next opportunity, bringing the heat for a full 40 minutes.

In the first half Biola took advantage of CUH mistakes by scoring a total of eight points off of turnovers, and a total of 18 points in the paint. Biola was up and running, making a statement, taking a 9-0 lead and only allowing their opponents to score a total of eight points by the end of the first quarter.

Head Coach Alan Nakamura's squad held the Silverswords leading scorer, Dallas Martinez, to just five points in the contest. As a squad, the Eagles turned a nine-point lead into a 33-point advantage just within the third quarter.

All 12 women who appeared in the game for the Eagles did their part, whether they started or came hot off the bench. Taylor Hall went 1-2 on three pointers setting a season high, with an assist, one steal, and five points on the night. Natasa Radovic set the tone on the leaderboard for assists with a total of six, while adding four points, and six rebounds to help her team to a stellar victory.

Biola maintained its double-digit lead not only in the third quarter but also in the fourth quarter. The Eagles tied for a season-high of 14 three-point field goals made on Friday night.

Hot shooter Sydney Moran showed up and showed off as she went 4-7 on three pointers, scoring a total of 14 points on the evening setting a career-high as an Eagle. "Tonight as a team we focused on ball movement, and shooting. I am very proud of my team. We executed very well," mentioned Moran.

"After last night's tough loss we used that and found momentum. We are excited to take the win we earned tonight into our next game."

The Eagles constantly found the open teammate on offense with 18 assists as a whole on Friday evening. BU outdueled CUH in almost every category, as they tallied 14 treys, 45 rebounds, five free throws, and a 47.0 field goal percentage.

The BU Squad is ready to roll straight into the next game, as they will face Hawaii Hilo one last time on Saturday, January 29 at 5:30 pm at Chase Gymnasium.  For live stats links and updates check athletics.biola.edu.
