Tough Task

The Eagles came out with a mere 1-0 loss to eighth-ranked Western Washington on Saturday night.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. --- A weekend bout against a top-ten squad made for a tough task for the Biola women's soccer team. BU (2-3) took on No. 8 Western Washington (3-0-1) on Saturday, falling 1-0 in the 90-minute contest.

The match statistics were lopsided in WWU's favor. The host team piled on 23 shots with 15 coming in the first half. In total, the Vikings placed six of those shots on-goal, resulting in one total goal for the game-winner.

Despite the offensive onslaught from the Vikings, BU kept its opposition from running up the score. Anna Boyer did her part in goal, nabbing five saves to increase her season total to 26. The BU defense also played its part, forcing errant shot attempts.

Biola's only shot came from Chloe Diaz in the 28th minute. The forward looked to send the ball towards the net but was blocked by the WWU defense.

The BU team competed in their fifth match of the season on Saturday, moving its overall record to 2-3. Katelyn Penner, Chloe Laurin and Rachel Melvin each played all 90 minutes of the match for the fifth-straight contest.

The Eagles will return to the pitch next Saturday in a non-conference competition against Concordia at 4:00 pm at Al Barbour Field.
