Eagles Split in the PNW

Biola Volleyball suffers its first sweep of the season, falls 3-0 to Central Washington.

SEATTLE, Wash. --- Biola Volleyball (4-4) fell 3-0 to Central Washington (4-2), the No.8 ranked team in the West Region (25-21, 25-22, 25-14) on Saturday night as the Eagles closed out the SPU-CWU Invitational with a 2-2 record.

Dominique Kirton was the lone Eagle to log double-digit kills with 11, but that was not enough to get the Eagles offense in a groove as the team hit .125 to Central Washington's .223.  Kirton continued to perform well in front of her family and friends as she recorded a .308 hitting percentage in Biola's final game in the Pacific Northwest.

Vanessa Garcia recorded 26 assists as she led both teams in the category. Sami Hover added two assists for the Eagles and Abby Brewster chipped in with one.

With her 15 digs tonight, Hover has now recorded double-digit kills in 51 consecutive matches, a streak that extends back to November 29, 2019.

Although the Eagles were swept for the first time this season, they had chances in both the first and second set as they led 13-12 in set one and at one point led by eight in the second set. But the Wolves played a cleaner game down the stretch in all three sets.

Biola will return home with a 4-4 record as the Eagles prepare to open PacWest play as they head back on the road to face Holy Names on September 17.
