Sweep Victory

Biola Volleyball sweeps Simon Fraser, earn the first sweep of the season and hand SFU its first loss.

SEATTLE, Wash. --- Biola Volleyball (3-3) bounced back from a five-set loss to Seattle Pacific on Thursday night by earning its first sweep of the season as the Eagles took three straight from Simon Fraser (4-1), Canada's NCAA Team on Friday afternoon (25-15, 25-21, 29-27).

The win comes in the second of four games at the Seattle Pacific Invitational and pushes the Eagles back to a .500 record as they advance to 3-3 overall in preseason play.

Abigail Copeland finished with a season-high 10 kills on 16 attempts for a .625 hitting percentage, leading the Eagles in kills. Perhaps even more impressive, Copeland did not record a hitting error during the match. The mid-west native added three blocks and four digs to help the Eagles earn the sweep.

Abby Brewster and Marissa Price served in the setup role for Head Coach Aaron Seltzer during Friday's match. The duo recorded 31 assists, Brewster connected with her hitters 18 times while Price did so 13 times.

Brewster notched her first double-double of the season, she logged 20 digs to go along with her 18 assists. The setter also chipped in with three blocks at the net.

Dani Bryant led the Eagles in blocks with 5 while adding 6 kills and 2 digs to her line.

Libero, Sami Hover, totaled 20 digs in the three-set match. Hover's performance places her just 95 digs away from 2,000 career digs as the graduate student sits at 1,905 career digs.

As a team, Biola hit .203 and limited Simon Fraser to .007. This marks the second time this season that the Eagles hit over .200 as a team, having accomplished the feat in the 3-1 victory over Texas A&M International during the third match of the season.

The Eagles are back in action on Saturday as they face Western Oregon and Central Washington at 12 P.M. and 5 P.M. respectively.
