LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The City of La Mirada recognized Dr. Dave Holmquist at Tuesday night's City Council Meeting with the Community Spotlight Award, which recognizes exceptional individuals, who through their actions, bring credit to themselves and to the City of La Mirada.

Dr. Holmqusit was presented the award by Mayor Ed Eng, while various members of the La Mirada and Biola communities joined in honoring Holmquist at City Hall. The award serves as the City of La Mirada's "Hall of Fame," a fitting induction for such an accomplished coach. 

"It is incredibly rewarding to see the powerful impact that Dr. Holmquist has on students lives through sports as a platform," said Mayor Eng.

"While we are all in awe of Dr. Holmquist's legendary accomplishments on the court, we also celebrate his servant leadership, unbridled passion and extraordinary commitment that has shaped the lives of so many young adults in a profound and significant way on and off the court." 

The recent honor is one of many that Holmqusit collected this year, as he was named PacWest Coach of the Year and led his team to the PacWest SoCal pod title. Holmquist became the fifth men's coach to reach 1,000 career wins, which he accomplished against Concordia on February 27.
